The changes to the Law of Ukraine “About the freedom of conscience and religious organizations”offered by the deputy V.Elenskiy, pose an intervention threat to the autonomy of religious communities from government
On October ,5 2016 the UOC clergy and believers prayed God to bring the deputies of Verhovna Rada to reason, for them not to be instruments of antireligious fight, since tomorrow, on October,6 there has been scheduled the consideration of the scandalous Bill 4128 that can legalize “ the church raider” according to the Synodal department of Information and Education of UOC.
This day thousands of people have gathered near the building of Ukrainian Parliament. The clergy have ministered the solemn prayer for peace in Ukraine.
During the peaceful gathering the representatives of deputy corps on behalf of opposition met with Ukrainian believers to listen to their demands and bring them to the legislative authorities.
Also during the meeting against scandalous Bill, 800 people have given their signatures against the changes to the legislature that open the way to taking away the churches and escalating the interfaith hostility.
It should be noted that today’s session of Verhovna Rada has begun with the opening speech of deputy V.Elenskiy who urged to discriminate the people of Ukraine on the basis of their religious belief.
It should be mentioned that Verhovna Rada of Ukraine is planning to bring changes to the law “ About the freedom of conscience and religious organizations” tomorrow, on October,6. According to V.Elenskiy’s reasoning, each person may consider themselves as member of a particular church community and vote for transition to another jurisdiction. Dozens of churches of UOC have already been captured under this scenario.
It has been reported earlier that this bill received a negative reaction from the representatives of World Church Council, members of Secretariat of All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious organizations, Scientific and Expert department of Verhovna Rada, Religious Freedom Insitute, the lawyers of International human rights protection Institute of Eastern Europe, and religion scientists.
Specialists say that the changes to the effective legislature , offered by V.Elenskiy, pose a threat of unreasonable intervention of the Government into the autonomy of religious communities and the emergence of new conflicts due to the confusion that can be caused by the changes in statutes.

It should be mentioned, that the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophil pointed that church issues are not to be solved by politicians.
