On July 27, 2019, on the eve of the feast of the  Baptism of Holy Ruś  and the feast day  of holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Prince Volodymyr the Great , the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, led a festive moleben at the monument to the Baptiser of Holy Ruś which is located on St. Volodymyr’s Hill in Kyiv. Concelebrating the festal paraklesis with His Beatitude were representatives from the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, as well as the episcopate and clergy from  all the eparchies of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). Also attending the moleben were tens of thousands of Orthodox worshippers from all over Ukraine, and  pilgrim groups from other countries.

The Moleben  was sung by the choir of the Kyiv Theological Academy and  Seminary (KDAiS) under the direction of Archimandrite Roman (Pidlubniak).

At the paraklesis service, prayers expressing gratitude to God for all the blessings that the Lord had granted  our land,  for choosing our people and , through holy Prince Volodymyr , had guided  us to the true faith.  On behalf of all the faithful , supplicatory prayers asking that the Church be  protected  from schism and hardship,  that love be multiplied among the people and that the Ukrainian state be granted  peace and prosperity were offered up unto the Lord.

After the completion of the moleben prayer service, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy addressed the numerous flock with greetings and words of encouragement .

“I heartily congratulate everyone with the  Feast day of the Baptism of Holy Ruś !  Today, we honour the blessed memory of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Prince Volodymyr the Great, who baptised Ruś  – which in turn united Ruś , and enlightened all of Ruś.  May we,  through the prayers of holy Grand Prince Volodymyr , become  his worthy descendants, live in faith as he had lived, preserve  peace in our families, bring peace to the state, bring mutual understanding, happiness and love!  May the Lord bless us all! Have a wonderful celebration ! “, –  the Primate wished all those present.

We remind you that prior to the beginning of the moleben service on St. Volodymyr’s Hill , a briefing for  leading mass media outlets of Ukraine was held  in which the Primate stated that “today we will pray for our people, for our country , that the Lord  grant us an end to the war that has reared its ugly head in this wonderful God’s world , that peace be restored in our state,  in our families and in our hearts. “

Following the moleben prayer service , a  large Cross procession led by  the relics of twenty saints and five miraculous icons will begin at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.  Watch the Live Broadcast of the celebrations on TV Channel “Inter”.
